Ebb & Flow Knitwear
Designer-Maker: Susan McCaslin
Currently I have two product lines:
I design and create unique and practical knitwear for infants and children: Hand-crafted hats, sweaters and vests - all in one-of-a-kind designs.
My other line: Up-cycling and Repurposing Vintage Sweaters into unique bags and purses.
I am exploring the world of needle felting by using a variety of wools and patterns on each bag.
Working and playing with wool provides me with a quiet perspective on life. It's such an endless learning experience.
The world of knitting and felting has opened up to me. It's funny how things shift and grow, if you let them. My "new" up-cycled purses and bags are sourced from vintage wool knitwear that I am Repurposing. Embellishing and needle felting to make each item a piece of unique art. AND so much fun!!
This sweater and matching hat are made from my hand-dyed - Superwash Marino Kona wool. My quality control team: (two grandchildren) attest to the warmth, softness and many successful washings!
And add to that - my love of learning!
Luckily I have a teacher who detects what I am ready and able for.
Many of my creations are made of my own hand-dyed, super-wash merino wool yarns. Creating and working with color combinations allows me to achieve just the look I want in each sweater.
I love to mix and match. These sweaters have cables and Fair Isle detailing. They are perfect for a brother and sister duo. Soft and very warm - bring on the snow!
All of my sweaters, vests and hats are machine wash and dry, gentle cycle.
I have developed some unique designs in the Fair Isle tradition. They are cozy and warm, with double thickness. Great combinations of color and texture!
Every sweater and hat has been pre-washed and dried, so you can be assured of long-lasting quality and fit.
When I dyed this Super-wash Merino Wool, I took my time. Applying small dashes of varying colors, I was able to expand this palette. In this way, I can combine many other solid hues in both patterned and Fair Isle designs.
And at the heart of every knitting project is the love I have for my grandkids. They are always warm and cozy in their mountain home.
Pure love is really the inspiration for each sweater - is it soft enough, is it stretchy and comfortable - a second skin? Perfect!
